my story

I am an artist, graphic and interactive designer, and digital media producer whose focus is where creativity, community, social good and the future converge online. I have been involved in everything from producing events for large cultural institutions, launching grassroots fundraising, helping found internet startups, and developing corporate branding campaigns, to intaglio printmaking and collaborative street art performances. My artwork has been shown in the United States, Australia and online through numerous web and virtual exhibitions.

I am the Creative Director of The Vesuvius Group, a collaborative studio specializing in developing online immersive and social environments for community-building. I am also a co-founder of the non-profit, AvaCon, Inc. dedicated to promoting the growth, enhancement, and development of the metaverse, virtual worlds, augmented reality and 3D immersive spaces. In addition, I organize numerous social good online events, including the Virtual Haiti Relief campaign within the virtual world of Second Life that helped raise awareness and $10,000 USD in virtual micro transactions.

My prior professional experience includes working as a new media designer and interactive specialist for the Online Leadership Program at the educational non-profit Global Kids. I was also involved in the production of the social issue game CONSENT! and was the developer and editor of Global Kids widely read youth media-focused blog

As the avatar Rhiannon Chatnoir, I began exploring the virtual world of Second Life in January of 2005, and has since used it as a medium for networking, marketing and creating art, as well as a virtual venue for curating art gallery exhibits and hosting cultural and charity events. I continue to explore the possibilities that virtual worlds, multiplayer games spaces, and virtual reality can have for impact.
