AvaCon, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the growth, enhancement, and development of the metaverse, virtual worlds, augmented reality, and 3D immersive and virtual spaces. AvaCon is the organizer of the annual Second Life Community Convention, which in 2010 took place in Boston, MA.
Transitionsʼ goal is to extend access to technology, shared information, resources and opportunities to those who are homeless, refugees, displaced and in transition.
Virtual Haiti Relief (VHR) is dedicated to raising funds in the virtual world of Second Life for Haitian earthquake relief and general education and awareness of Haitian culture. VHR collaborates with TechSoup’s Nonprofit Commons, Linden Lab and other organizations. Fundraising events include music and art festivals, fashion events, sales of virtual items and general donations. To date, VHR has raised over $8,000 solely via virtual world micro-donations.
Westport River Gardeners is a Southeastern MA horticultural and community gardening club, whose mission focuses on learning, sharing and community service.
Developed and taught “Natureʼs Sketchbook,” a summer workshop for youth ages 6-13, which focused on art technique and scientific exploration from a naturalistʼs point of view.
Taught traditional art techniques, such as drawing, painting, color theory, collage, printmaking and sculpture, to youth ages 6-13.
